Puzzle 25 –  Point the Finger:

In puzzle 25, we have good guys and bad guys. The good guys will always point to adjacent bad guys. The bad guys will always point to somebody, regardless of if they are good or bad. If a good guy is not adjacent to any bad guys, he will not point to anyone. You need to find the two villains in the grid.

Laytons Mystery Journal Puzzle 25 Solution 1

Since no one in the whole bottom row is pointing, we know that they are all good guys. We also know that everyone in the middle row is a good guy, because otherwise the bottom row would be pointing. Since everyone in the middle row is pointing to the top middle, we know that he is one of the bad guys. Finally, since the one on the top right is pointing to a good guy (towards the middle row), we know that he is also a bad guy.

Puzzle 27 –  Neighbors:

Puzzle 27 is a tricky riddle about four neighbors who live on different floors in one very tall apartment. You need to figure out who lives on what floor. This puzzle comes with a few hints.

1 – person A lives three floors below person D

2 – person B lives on either floor 7 or floor 8

3 – person C lives on an odd-numbered floor

4 – everyone lives the same distance apart

Laytons Mystery Journal Puzzle 28 Solution 1

Everyone must live an odd number of floors apart, since otherwise person A cannot live 3 floors away from person. This means that person B must live on floor 8 for person C to live on an odd-numbered floor.

There are not enough digits for everyone to live 3 floors away from each other, so everyone must live 1 floor away from each other. So, person D is on the highest floor – 9 – followed by person B on floor 8, person C on floor 7 and person A on floor 6.
