Awesome Games Done Quick 2016

It is the first full week of the year, and what better way to start off 2016 with a charity event for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, and what better way to get a bunch of gamers together to do just that than to have a gaming speed run marathon.

For that, Games Done Quick is hosting their Awesome Games Done Quick marathon all week in which a bunch of big speed runners come together to show off their intimate knowledge and skill in their game of choice.

I’ve never really been a huge follower of speed runs, but this even is giving me a good excuse to watch them anyway, and I must say, I’ve been impressed so far. It’s neat to see someone’s complete mastery over some of your favorite games. It’s also fun to hear the commentary explaining exactly what’s going to happen in the game or what the speed runner’s strategy entails, especially in some of the really big games.

Awesome Games Done Quick will be going on throughout the course of this week. They have a schedule lining out each game they will be doing all week, so I encourage everyone to check it out and see if some of your favorite games are on the line up.  It’s for a good cause.

  1. Gamers working to contribute to charity is one of the best things ever. I try to never miss Extra Life each year, but haven’t checked out much of AGDQ though I’m intrigued. I’ll have to make some time to investigate one of these days.

    1. And I’ll have to do the same for Extra Life. It’s definitely important for us gamers to remember the real world and the things we can do to help those in need. Thanks for the comment.

  2. This is something that I could look into! There are a couple of games that I’ve done speed runs of but only usually for fun or to see if I can complete them faster! Wouldn’t have heard about Games Done Quick if I didn’t read this post. Thanks!

I’ve decided to nominate you for the One Lovely Blog Award because I like your writing style and you definitely know what you’re talking about! I’ll be reading more often 😀 .

Being nominated, I’ve been told that you have to do the following:
    1. Thanking the person that nominated you
    2. Stating 7 random facts about yourself
    3. Nominate 7-15 other blogs (preferably newer blogs)
    4. Don’t forget to add The Lovely Blog Award logo to your post (google it if you can’t find it)
